Antique, Salt Glazed Elks Head Bottle
This antique stoneware bottle is “salt glazed.” Salt glazing was a glazing technique that was popular in Europe and North America from the 17th to 19th centuries until it fell out of widespread use by the 20th century due both to the increased use of glassware and the introduction of new glazing techniques.
The bottle is carved with an Elk’s head artwork created by Celtic Hammer Club.
The bottle is approximately the diameter of a modern wine bottle, but it is taller. This is truly a unique and one of a kind product.
